TechT MRT Pro Series Bolt for the X7 Phenom

TechT has released the latest in a line of MRT bolts for the X7 Phenom. The TechT MRT Pro Series Phenom Bolt is a delrin/aluminum hybrid bolt. The hybrid design increases the efficiency and speed of the Phenom. It's light and it's fast, and it does a good job of sealing off the barrel with the soft face tip. Each MRT Pro Series Phenom Bolt includes the new Phaze 5 Fitting by TechT. The stainless steel fitting replaces the stock plastic fitting the ports the air from the receiver to the cyclone. The larger ported Phaze 5 means better air flow and less restriction on the cyclone feed. It all adds up to more speed, consistency and efficiency my friends.

New Designz Phenom High Flow Hose Fitting

Better airflow in any paintball gun is always a good thing. Some of the parts included at the factory can be a little restrictive on a marker, preventing it from reaching peak performance. The New Designz Phenom CFS Fitting is designed to allow the cyclone feed on the X7 Phenom to breathe easier by increasing the port size of the fitting that exits the receiver and provides the cyclone with air to function.


The ND Phenom high flow fitting increases the port size about 47% over the stock fitting. The X7 Phenom functions at a lower pressure, around 300 psi. There is a minimum pressure rating required for the Cyclone Feed to continue to shuttle balls into the receiver. This the reason why your cyclone will stop feeding once the pressure in your tank is very low. Low pressure source means the gun has less pressure to function and therefore the pressure to function the cyclone could be below required minimums to operate properly.

The larger ported fitting means less restriction and better air flow. New Designz has tested and is reporting that the CFS Phenom Air Fitting offers smoother cyclone operation even at pressures well below 200 psi. This means your cyclone will continue to function even at critical pressure levels. Best part is that it's only $6.99!

Paintball Bipods: New Additions and Old Favorites

The idea of using a paintball bipod is one of those topics that is hotly debated in the scope of paintball. Some players use 'em, others feel they have no use for 'em. The reality is whether or not a bipod is applicable to you depends on your playing style and personal preference in gear. No, it's not practical to add a paintball bipod to a tournament marker. But if you own a scenario marker that's decked-out with all the hottest upgrades, using a bipod tends to make more sense.

Woodsball and scenario events are not as fast-paced as tournament style games. Players are able to take cover, gather information regarding the other team's position and develope a general game plan of how to move forward. Military style paintball guns can be heavy. Body kits, stocks, shrouds and all the jaw dropping accessories add weight to even the lightest factory markers. Many players who choose to use a bipod do so because they tend to sit back and provide cover for forward moving players. They take on more of a sniper role in which their position is mostly fixed. They rely on the bipod for a number of reasons. First and most obvious, it provides stability. The shooter is able to take a cleaner shot and also make slight adjustments to correct ball placement by simply pivoting on the bipod. Secondly, it allows the shooter to free-up the forward hand. This allows a player to use that hand for other things such as reloading, adjusting a scope and even working communication equipment while the other hand stays on the trigger and the marker is aimed, ready to be fired.


Paintball bipods mainly differ in leg length and the means by which they attach to your weapon. There are a ton of options out there and models available to meet your exact needs. The most universal bipod is one that attaches to the barrel itself. This is normally via a clamp that goes around the barrel. Another popular method to attach a paintball bipod is to a picatinny style rail on the lower front part of the receiver or on the barrel shroud itself. Most RIS (rail interface system) style shrouds have top, bottom and side rails. The bottom rail provides the perfect mounting point to attach the bipod. Most have a quick release function that allows you to remove the bipod easily for cleaning or storage. Just about every bipod folds up and out of the way. You can reverse the folding direction to allow the bipod to fully collapse depending on the mount position and how much clearance you have in regards to the gun's receiver.

Our latest bipod additions include the NcSTAR ABPGC Bipod and ABPGF Bipod. The only difference being the overall length of the legs. ABPGC is a compact model while the other is the full length version. The unique feature of this bipod is the flexibility of the mounting. It includes 3 adapters to allow the bipod to attach to your marker in a variety of ways. This allows the bipod to be almost universal and be able to be applied to just about any marker out there. Problem with Tippmann Flatline: We have the Fix

Even after years and years of great success, the Tippmann Flatline Barrel is still one of the most popular barrels for Tippmann A5 owners. With an additional 100 feet of flat trajectory, it's not hard to see why the Flatline is among the most popular barrels in the woods. The unique inner design allows the barrel to impart a spin on the paintball; this spin helps the ball resist the forces acting on it as it flies out of the barrel and across the field at the opposing players. The spin is the secret to the success of the Tippmann Flatline barrel.

Although the Tippmann Flatline is loved by so many and still remains the 'go to' barrel for a lot of players, it's also the source of a lot of frustration for some. Understanding a few key points about the Flatline (as well as paintball barrels in general) will do wonders for your performance on the field. You may have read or heard many people describe the Flatline as 'picky when it comes to paint'.

That could be said for any barrel that is not a barrel 'kit' (with multiple bore attachments). The Flatline has 1 bore size, therefore is best matched with paintballs of similar caliber. You'll get lousy performance from any barrel that isn't matched well to the paint that is being used. But does quality really count? You bet it does... Cheap or old paint will give you issues not matter what barrel you're using. Higher priced paint tends to be more consistent in shape and size. With more consistent ball size, you're able to get better results shot to shot. Buy quality stuff that matches the bore of the barrel and your distance and accuracy will be optimal for your set-up.

If you called Tippmann and asked for a recommendation regarding paintballs that could be used with the Flatline, they'd probably tell you RPS Marballizer. They have traditionally used Marballizers for Flatline testing. It's our experience that a quality paintball in the high .68's (.688, .689) works well with the inner barrel of the Flatline. We always get great results with Marbs in the Flatline barrel.

Next is maintenance. 'Barrel' maintenance you ask? That's right, especially when it comes to the A5 Flatline Barrel. Believe it or not, some players don't realize that the Flatline has multiple pieces. The A5 Flatline has 4 parts: the barrel, shroud and two end caps. You can disassemble the Flatline and clean it. There is one important thing to remember when you re-assemble your barrel. The barrel must be lined-up properly to the rear A5 end cap. This is easy because Tippmann marks the barrel with an indicator line. You need to make sure the line on the barrel is in the middle of the set screw port on the rear end cap. Once you do this, you’re ready to reassemble and your Flatline is properly aligned.

With a little maintenance and understanding about proper paintball matching, you can get optimal performance out of any barrel. The Tippmann Flatline Barrel is no exception to this rule. For more detailed pics, take a look at our Tippmann A5 Flatline problem article on the website.

Paintball Tips: Most Underated Advice

We obviously get a lot of questions about products from existing customers and others browsing the web. We also get our fair share of questions coming from newbies and other first time players who don't play often but want to better their game. One question we always get is 'how can I stay in the game longer and why are the same people always the last guys out'?

The obvious answer to the question is to not get shot, lol! But there's a little more to than that! First time and occasional players are typically nervous and a little 'gung ho'. They start slinging paint from the minute the horn sounds. They typically give away their position immediately and suffer a rain of fire coming down on them from every angle. This locks a player in the spot he or she is in, resulting in a kill and a lonely walk back to the staging area.

The best advice for anyone looking to stay in the game longer is very easy. Be patient! Get to your spot and wait. Don't fire for a few minutes, don't give your position away. Take those few first minutes to do a little recon on the movement of the opposing force. Listen to the shots being fired from their nervous newbies. Get a feel for where your teammates are and the general topography of the field and the obstables in front of you. Always figure out where your next move is going to be before you start firing. This gives yourself an exit stategy and a new place to take cover. Never move to a bunker or cover that will lock you in for more than a few minutes. Your first shots are going to give your position away.

Calm your nerves and keep your finger off the trigger for the first few minutes of your next woodsball game. You'll stay in the fight much longer which not only makes you a more valued player on your team but builds your confidence each and every time you head to the field.

The New Tippmann X7 Phenom Mechanical paintball gun offers the same valve technology as the original model just with a non-electronic trigger. New Paintball Ghillie Suits!

We are very excited about a new product that will soon be available for purchase through ROCKSTAR Tactical. The Rufus Dawg SwitchPad for the Tippmann A5 and X7 HE Triggerframe is a revolutionary new product that will add comfort while solving a problem long experienced by Tippmann e-board owners.


The A5/X7 Switchpad installs at the front of the HE Selector Switch triggerfame. It's made from durable composite plastic with a molded control panel. The top button allows you to activate the triggerframe and program it without having to insert a small object or tool. The bottom window allows you to see the led light indicating your mode or setting. This is perfect for those that want a much easier means of programming your trigger especially while in the field. No more worries about damaging your internals by blindly sticking in an object from the front to switch settings.

Rufus Dawg updated the Switchpad with a new adhesive and we now have the latest release in stock. If you are a Tippmann HE Selector Switch owner, keep an eye out for this new product.
